WISH LIST

I would really like to have a digital camera that provides images that can be printed at 20"x30" without having to upsize them. For a 200 dpi print, that would require a sensor that is 4000 pixels by 6000 pixels or 24 MP. It should be able to handle ISOs between 25 and 25600 with very low noise. The sensor should be able to handle at least a 13-stop dynamic range, or, in absence of that, an easy auto-bracketing mode so HDR images can be composited in Photoshop. This camera would have a built-in lens (so there is no sensor dust problems) that has a zoom range of at least 15-600mm (35mm equivalent) with 1:1 macro mode. Oh, and finally, this camera should sell for less than $1000.

The Sony RX10 III and IV are the closest to my dream camera. They have a 24-600mm equivalent lens, can go to ISO 6400 with acceptable noise, and have 20 MP sensors with a dynamic range of about 10 stops. They also have a wide array of auto-bracketing exposures for later HDR creations. However, macro capabilities are greatly lacking, and the price is still above $1000.
